Dear Het Swap writer,
Thank you for writing a story for me. I've tried to give you some ideas of what I might like to see, but if none of them are your thing feel free to disregard them. They are just ideas for people who find it easier to write something when given a prompt. Feel free to write other characters in these fandoms too - I like all the other characters in these fandoms. Just because I've waffled more or written more prompts about some fandoms than others doesn't mean I want it more - I want these all as much as each other, I just waffle more about some than others.
General things I like:
- Stories that explore the relationships between characters
- Stories that explore characters
- Scenes/fic that is like it could be (part of) an episode
- Stories that make me happy or make me laugh or make me cry
- Fun stuff that leaves me feeling happy
- A touch being more sexy/touching than a whole sex scene
- Complicated relationships
- Epistolary fic
General things I dislike:
- Sex scenes, so nothing over PG-13 please - generally sticking to the tone and details of sex/humour/peril etc of the original is good.
- British people using Americanisms and American people using Briticisms
- Non canon (permanent) character death
For reference, here are my prompts:
What I like most about Elrond is all the losses he's suffered and yet he's endured. I see Celebrían and their children as a bright spot in his life, at least for a while. We don't know much about Celebrían so something that shows how good they are together or how good they are for each other would be interesting. And not just what Celebrían brings to Elrond's life, but also what she brings to his. I'd also like something about them meeting and/or falling in love or Elrond angsting after she's gone. Or just a bit of their home life. I'd prefer a story set before they're (possibly) reunited when Elrond sails.
Blake's 7: Dayna/Tarrant
I love the aliens made them do it trope when it's with a twist (or subverted). And who doesn't like explosions? Thus I love this pairing. It's also Rescue when she's scared and he's worried about her. And her being understandably annoyed about him and Servalan in Sand. I'd love to see something with more aliens making them do it, or them having to deal with other tropes. They do seem to be good for that sort of thing. Explosions are always a bonus. Or just something where they're working together or protecting each other.
Very quickly Dimitri goes from not knowing what Erin's home life is at all, to knowing all about Erin's daughter. She must have told him sometime, how did that come about? I like that Erin is vulnerable, but it makes her good at her job. Someone on the Grid has to have a conscience, after all. When Erin has to shoot someone, Dimitri later comforts her without mentioning it. It's a very understated friendship where they help each other. I'd like to see them maybe trying to have a relationship - maybe it's hard, maybe they easily fall into it. Given that Spooks is a series where a lot of people die, I'd prefer not to kill anyone else off (and for this to be set before the film). But I'm happy if you want to AU things so Ruth, for example, doesn't die. Or set something after series 10, when everything's back to normal - we don't really know what happened between series 10 and the film.
What I like most about these two is their banter and their friendship. A story involving banter would make me happy. Particularly later in season 3 and 4 when they clearly care about each other and are supportive of each other. How they've become friends by the end of season 2 despite their in-built prejudices. I love seeing them working together, so I'd like a story with more of that in. I like the combination of the emotionless Vulcan and emotional human that shouldn't work, but does. I particularly like the Romeo and Juliet aspect where neither the humans nor the Vulcans will accept their relationship (Enterprise crew excepted). I'd love a story that explores that in some way. I dislike the whole telepathic bond thing in general, so if you do have their bond in fic I'd prefer nothing more than has been shown on screen. I haven't read the books, but I know roughly what happens to Trip, so I'd prefer a story that pretended the books didn't exist. And These Are the Voyages... can exist or not as you prefer.
