I intended to do this at the beginning of the month, but where did January go? I thought I'd better take a break from Fandom Snowflake and do this while we're still in the first month of the year at least.

(Here is last year's)

Or in other words, I wrote a lot of different characters and a lot of different fandoms in comparison to last year.

General questions:

Looking back, did you write more fics than you thought you would this year, less than you thought, or about what you predicted?
Looking back, it is more than I thought I had. But less than I thought I was going to. I can see that I wrote lots in the first three months of the year, which were fine, then everything went to pot and I didn't really pick up writing again until late December when things had quietened down.

But somehow I ended up writing one fewer fic than last year, but about 3000 more words.

What pairing/genre/fandom did you write that you would never have predicted last year?
I wouldn't have predicted I'd have got into The Librarians fandom. I didn't think I'd write 40-Love again. I didn't think I'd get back into Spooks again.

What's your favourite story this year? Not the most popular, but the one that makes you the happiest.
40-Love: More Than Tennis. I just really enjoyed all the research, aka listening to The Tennis Podcast (it was really hard work...). And it's just a nice, happy fic. And my longest of the year, which I am proud of.

Okay, NOW your most popular story.
The Librarians: The Swashbucklers. Somehow it has managed 37 kudos, 3 comments, 5 bookmarks and a subscription on AO3. I don't know how that happened. Or what the subscription means.

Story most underappreciated by the universe?
The Librarians: This Ain't a Love Spell. It's the only one of my Librarians fics that doesn't have crazy amount of kudos. This is probably because it's tagged non-con and is Eve/Flynn/Cassandra.

Story that could have been better?
Looking through the list, there aren't any that stand out as needing to be better. There are some I wish I'd had more time on (or they'd been easier to write) but they wouldn't have necessarily ended up better for it.

Sexiest story?
Press Gang: Agressive Aggrandizement wins for a kiss and mentions of sex. But not too many because this is Press Gang and that would weird.

Saddest story?
None of them are that sad. So Spooks: All Russians are Spies (The Retirement Remix) wins for having both characters not necessarily be terribly happy at times in the fic.

Most fun?
I think that's won (just) by Press Gang Does GISHWHES for sheer silliness.

Story with single sweetest moment?
The ending of 40-Love: More Than Tennis

Hardest story to write?
Stargate Atlantis Siren Song, although not for any particular reason, it just was hard.

Easiest/most fun story to write?
I just had so much fun with Press Gang Does GISHWHES and the premise pretty much writes itself.

Did any stories shift your perceptions of the characters?
The Librarians: Read, Fight, Jump. As I was writing it I realised what I was trying to say about Flynn and Ezekiel. Writing this really made me think about them both and the relationship between the two of them.

Most overdue story?
Lynda Day of the Chalet School. Sometime I'll get back to it...

Did you take any writing risks this year? What did you learn from them?
Well, I started writing in a new fandom (The Librians). I learnt that I do not need a new fandom, but can't help it. I wrote RPF (Historical Farm) that seems to have led me down a slippery slope (if only the very top, fairly flat bit of it).

What are your fic writing goals for next year?
Finish Lynda Day of the Chalet School. Or at least write v2. Finish some of the half-finished fics sitting around on my hard drive. Finish some of the things sitting around on my hard drive that look like they're fic from the file name, but are in fact just a summary of what I intend to write.
