Fifth Formers remained one of my all-time favourite Blytons even after I stopped reading most of them. (That's the one with the v funny chapter with the night time shenanigans, isn't it?
It is! The only thing I remembered from either series was the start of the second St Clare's book where the twins couldn't go back to school until a week after term started because they were in contact with someone who had mumps.
